I started my combined adult and paediatric spine fellowship in August 2022. The main aims of my fellowship were to become comfortable in managing adult pathology including trauma, MSCC and adult degenerative spine. My career ambition is to have a joint adult and paediatric practice. I was allowed to split my fellowship between The Northern General and Sheffield Childrens hospital where I gained experience in the surgical and non-surgical management of scoliosis patients.
I had the opportunity to learn directly from the senior surgeons and had an excellent exposure to both adult and paediatric pathologies. During the year, I was also supported in a two-week Travelling BASS Fellowship where I visited various units around the country which further improved my experience.
The fellowship offers excellent clinical and non-clinical support and prepares you for consultant life.
My timetable consisted of:
- Monday: Adult elective and trauma theatre lists
- Tuesday: Paediatric elective theatre list
- Wednesday: MDT and adult elctive clinic
- Thursday: Adult Elective List
- Friday Paediatric clinic and adult trauma list
